Saving Moora College one nut at a time

Morish Nuts is proud to support the #savemooracollege campaign to fight the closure of the Moora Residential College, a home away from home for students aged 11 to 18 in remote and regional WA. Morish Nuts owner and self proclaimed “Principal” Nut, Archie Moroni, is a strong supporter of the cause, saying that well educated youth is the key to a strong rural economy. “We started selling our products annually at the Dowering Field Days in 1995 and after receiving such a positive response it lead us to many other country shows from Albany in the South, to Kununurra in the North, including Mingenew, Moora, Newdegate, Dalwallinu Busselton and Esperance to name a few. “The support we received greatly contributed to the growth of our business, which was ultimately made possible by a strong rural economy – and of course, this must be underpinned by a well-educated youth” he said. Archie says that the youth of today are our future for tomorrow, so it is more important now, than ever to ensure that they are equipped with the right tools to lead them forward. “Our kids need a good education that is delivered in a suitable environment – and that is exactly what Moora College provides. “#savemooracollege is a principled undertaking endeavouring to deliver on these outcomes. To take this away from our country children would be an injustice” he said. To show their support, Morish Nuts proudly donated 100 packs of their Caramel Coated Premium Mix and Savoury Mix nuts to aid in fundraising for the campaign at the Moora Markets recently held on Saturday 26 May which raised $635.75 in raffles, sales of merchandise and donations!
